March 27, 2020 Callaway County COVID-19 Update

As of 6 PM 3/27/20 the Callaway County Health Department (CCHD) has 10 positive Covid-19 cases residing in Callaway County. Eight (8) are associated with William Woods University. These individuals are under self-isolation CCHD will follow Department of Health and Senior Services and Center for Disease Control for isolation recommendations and guidelines for discontinuation of isolation when appropriate.

Two were received 3/27, one is travel related and the other from the community.

Close contacts of positive cases are contacted by CCHDE and asked to self-isolate for 14 days. Symptom onset can occur within 2-14 days. This is the reason for the 14-day self-isolation recommendation for positive cases and close contacts. If a contact becomes symptomatic, they should seek medical attention. Please notify the medical facility prior to arrival. This ensures the staff is wearing the proper personal protective equipment.

If someone is in need of emergency services (Fire, EMT or Police) please call dispatch and let them know you are in isolation for Covid-19. This protects our emergency responders so they can continue to help other citizens in need.

Currently the health department is limiting contact with the public. If you need a birth certificate or death certificate, you can call our office 573-642-6881 to determine if you meet criteria. Determination will be made on a case-by-case basis.

CCHD is holding WIC clinics by telephone. A system is being developed to allow us to issue and load E-WIC cards with minimal contact between clients and staff.

Septic system permits are still being issued. Please call 573-642-5750 and leave a message, we will get back with you. Water tests can be dropped off. Please call 573-642-6881 ext.0 to arrange for drop off Mon.-Fri. 9-12.
