April 4, 2020 Callaway County COVID-19 Update

The Callaway County Health Department (CCHD) has received one (1) additional notification of a positive COVID-19 case residing in Callaway County.

Total cases: 18 (7 active, 11 recovered)

These individuals and associated close contacts are in isolation. Close contacts of positive cases are contacted by CCHD and asked to self-isolate for 14 days. Symptom onset can occur within 2-14 days. This is the reason for the 14-day self-isolation recommendation for positive cases and close contacts. If a contact, or anyone else, becomes symptomatic, they should seek medical attention. Please notify the medical facility prior to arrival. This ensures the staff is wearing the proper personal protective equipment.

If someone is in need of emergency services (Fire, EMT or Police) please call dispatch and let them know you are in isolation for COVID-19 or that you are symptomatic for the disease. This protects our emergency responders so they can continue to help other citizens in need, and can safely go home to their families at night.

CCHD continues to work with the state government to limit the spread of COVID-19.
