May 19, 2020 Callaway County COVID-19 Update

The Callaway County Health Department has no new positive COVID-19 cases to report at this time. There are currently 22 cases, 20 recovered, one active and one death.

Our friends and neighbors to the north in Audrain County have experienced two days of positive cases of COVID-19. They have gone from two cases to 16 within a 48-hour time period. We hope that all of their cases are minor and all recover quickly. We are ready to assist them in any way that they need.

This same scenario can happen within our county without warning. COVID-19 is not gone from Callaway County. As more tests are performed daily, the probability is that there will be additional cases. This is something that the Callaway County Health Department staff is prepared to handle. Our community partners are also ready to assist in any way needed to prevent the spread of this virus within Callaway County. We have a great community that we live in. People actually do help people here. The main way to assure we stay safe is to continue social distancing.

To date, there have been approximately 560 individuals tested according to CCHD Administrator Sharon Lynch.

If you have a business or church and have questions on reopening and distancing, please call the Callaway County Health Department. We will come to your site or answer any questions we can over the phone.

PLEASE STAY SAFE
